Sulada Crafts

It started in 2008, but is still in the maturing phase. Initially, the association was made up of 50 people. This project aims to improve the living conditions of 50 women who lived by collecting sand and other garbage in the town of Gouveia. The cooperative is in debt in two groups: that of traditional cosmetics and that of local crafts. In the cosmetic area, the cooperative makes a set of products through local raw materials “oil-vira” and “purge” oil, earth soap, bath gel, bath salt, stike and soap.

All these products are made in a traditional and manufactured way; In crafts, the cooperative has produced the following products: rag dolls, earth cloth, wallets made of sisal and earth cloth, basketry, with cut and seam, the cooperative makes tablecloths, glass bases, table bases. All local handicraft production is carried out at the Artisan Center, based in Gouveia, and cosmetic production is carried out in Ciudad Vieja and all these products are produced manually.
