Angra do Heroísmo is one of the production centres that continue the traditional pottery of the Azores. The talhão, an important reservoir for water or cereals in other times, used to transport liquids, are now much appreciated pieces for decorating rustic environments.
The bowl, which in its various dimensions was suitable for the most diverse domestic tasks, is now better known as the alguidar from Terceira, intended to go on the table with the typical Alcatra.
The sertã, which is mainly used as a bread grill, is another emblematic piece of our traditional pottery, associated with the domestic production of Bolos Lêvedos and Bolo de Milho or Bolo da Sertã (cakes).
