The diversity of fish in the Azorean sea has influenced the artistic imagination of Azorean craftsmen.

The scales are cleaned in various waters and transformed into delicate petals or leaves which, after being cut out with scissors with immense skill, are composed into floral assemblages.

The most traditional works are essentially flowers, of the most varied species and shapes.
