They create copper bas-reliefs respecting the techniques of the traditional trade of the goldsmith
In the “Art Workshop”, in the heart of the historic centre of Mostar, the tradition of old crafts continues. Currently, two artists, both born in 1981, work tirelessly in the workshop. They make bas-reliefs in copper respecting the techniques of the traditional goldsmith’s craft.
From early childhood, Edin Kurt, along with his father Ismet, learned the secrets of traditional Bosnian copper processing. Observing the works, it is quite clear that this is an author whose range of observations is directed towards the rich spiritual, craft and artistic heritage of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On Edin’s copper plates and pans, the shapes from the medieval Bogumil’s tombstones have been redesigned, and the traditional way of making has been preserved.
Saša Miličević got acquainted with this art and craftsmanship through Edin and continued to improve his work with the old masters from Mostar. He looks forward to every new challenge in creating works of art and presenting the rich history of Bosnia and Herzegovina through art. He likes to say that he did not find this art, but this art found him.
